5:09 pm - Dessert pizza toast ^_^
I like making pizza toast under the griller (it's quicker than in the oven and gives much the same result, for margherita pizza at least) and I thought I'd experiment with making dessert pizza!

Before/after cooking:

Top half: Nutella with marshmallow or peanuts
Bottom half: Jam and coconut

I decided to do a few different combos on the one piece of toast, so I wouldn't be wasting too much if something didn't cook nicely... but it all did!

The jam was the best one - kinda like a coconut tart. Will definitely be making this again! ^_^

1:10 pm - misc fandom stuff
There were supposed to be photos of the Avatar movie cast coming out "by the end of June" but they haven't appeared yet so I keep checking the forum to see if they've come out in the ten minutes since I last checked.... -_-;

Apparently Ling (from FmA) has the same voice actor as Riku from Kingdom Hearts. I find this very amusing as I was drawing parallels between them all through playing KH2.

Also, thanks to the joys of op-shopping, I now have a video of the "Legend of Zelda" cartoon and also "Warriors of the Wind", the original hack-dub of Nausicaä. Haven't watched them yet; might not watch Warriors at all (apparently Miyazaki has asked everyone to forget all about it), but it's kinda cool to have. Not sure whether I should keep them or possibly put them in for auction at Manifest.

11:38 am - w00t!
Last night's episode of FmA had an ad for upcoming episodes. FIRST LOOK AT XINGESE GROUP YAY!

I am SO cosplaying Mei again for Manifest this year. (People will actually recognise the character this time!) I'll have to remake the shirt and pants though; looks like they're a darker shade of pink than I used last time.

Also, Avatar teaser trailer is out. The effects and scenery and everything look awesome, though I'm disappointed that we didn't get to see any actual acting, because that's the only part of it that I'm uncertain about - and it's a pretty major part! Oh well, cast/character photos will apparently be out soon, at least... but yeah, I'm still feeling very optimistic about this movie. ^_^

Character photos have also been released for Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland movie, and I'm not very keen on them. On the other hand, the scenery looks incredible.

Cleaning out the My Music folder. There are an awful lot of songs I had no idea I had. Listening to everything at least once, and deleting ones that are either immediately awful, or so unremarkable I'm left with no memory of what I've been listening to for the last five minutes.

8:56 pm - E3
I thought ICO 3 "The Last Guardian" was going to be the only exciting thing at E3.

It wasn't.

GOLDEN SUN is coming out for DS! ^___^

Here's hoping it's a new game and not a remake. EDIT: Found poster/trailer/further discussion... it's a sequel. Descendants of the original characters. It looks kind of modern-fantasy-ish, from what they're wearing. Hmmm... O_o
EDIT EDIT: Should have thought of it myself, but someone pointed out... no Mars Adept in the team yet, so maybe it'll end up being a Proxan character? (They were the villains in the original game(s) and I always hoped there might be a good playable character in a sequel...)

(Last Guardian trailer is very very pretty, by the way, although it was just an updated-graphics version of the video that came out a few weeks ago. So not quite as exciting as I was hoping/expecting.)

This is a really bad time to come down with a cold. You don't want to cough on the train in case you send everyone else into paranoia over swine flu. X_x

It has occurred to me that prettymuch all my fandoms have something to look forward to.

Fullmetal Alchemist - weekly episodes, plus the manga is heading towards the climax
Avatar - live-action movie (yes, I am actually looking forward to this! At the very least it's going to be pretty.)
ICO series - new game! ♥
Studio Ghibli - Ponyo
Pokémon - Gold/Silver remakes! (yay nostalgia!)

Hmm, and I never actually watched the new series of Slayers yet. Wonder if that's finished now or if it's still going...?

9:49 pm - Username
I am strongly considering changing my username, because quite simply I was sick of "RocketJess" ages and ages ago but I had no idea what to change it to. Finally I have an idea, and I'm liking it more and more.

The thing is, I like using my own name (ie. Jess) but it's fairly indistinctive AND it's likely to be taken when I try to sign up for forum accounts. So I had the idea of looking up name origins. The name "Jessica" was first used by Shakespeare, though it probably originated with the biblical name "Iscah" which means "God is looking" or possibly "God's grace" (the exact translation varies on every site I looked at)... either way I think that's awesome, and I'd love to use it.

...on the downside, it seems so be taken on larger sites already. And trying to rename accounts everywhere would be a pain.

I'll keep on thinking about it....

11:36 pm - TRICO TRAILER OMG
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xF3fED8EXl4

OMGOMGOMG IT'S THE AWESOMEST THING EVER

SERIOUSLY.

I'M BUYING A PS3 JUST FOR THIS.

OMG *FLAILS*

I think I'm going to try and avoid too much discussion/spoilers over this game in the leadup to it being released. Team ICO games are better played without knowing things in advance.

I just hope it's not too long a wait... I want to play it now!

12:39 am - Prince of Persia / BioShock
Just got home from [info]chiccachilli's house and several straight hours of playing BioShock. Normally I don't play shooters at all but I keep hearing about how good BioShock is, so I was curious.

It's... interesting. Super super creepy, brilliant at bringing on paranoia; I was tiptoeing through the corridors and generally freaking out any time I got attacked and couldn't see where the enemy was (I don't think I like first-person perspective very much...). Got up to the first Big Daddy battle, although Kristy ended up fighting that for me. I'm definitely rescuing the Little Sisters.

Prior to playing that, I finished Prince of Persia (the newest one with the pretty cel-shading) which was a great game up until five minutes before the end cut for spoilers and ranting )

11:51 pm - FmA new series!
OMG the new series of Fullmetal Alchemist has finally started! I watched the first bit of it already but I'll wait until there's a subbed version (like Madman's official version!) before I watch the rest of it.

The opening music video is pretty cool, and quite surprising with such a focus on Hohenheim at the start (previously he was kept hidden for such a long time), and with introducing "later" elements like Greed (although if it's following the manga he is more of an important character here). I guess it's being worked differently because people are so familiar with the earlier incarnations now. It must be hard working around that and keeping it interesting without warping the story.

Also, here's the ending music video.

I'm so excited over this series~~~ ♥♥♥

Went to Minifest this morning - didn't see as many of my friends as I hoped I would. Paid for my Manifest registration and tried to volunteer, but the Pre-Reg table directed me to the Minifest Registration table, and they directed me back to Pre-Reg. -_-
Best bit of the day was the dance lesson for Amaranth. We learnt the Moon Waltz from FF8 (having gone and watched the original video now, I don't think I was doing it right - don't know if they were teaching it wrong or if I just can't follow the instructions!) and another really confusing dance that I was definitely not doing right - but then, prettymuch nobody else was doing it right either. (The music was unhearably soft, which didn't help... they needed some bigger speakers to hook up to the CD player.) We finished with the Hokey Pokey, which was lots of fun! ^_^

After that I had to leave to go to my friend's wedding. (Didn't get invited to the reception, but I wanted to go along to the ceremony anyway.) It was at a really sweet little church up in the Dandenongs. My friend looked lovely, and it was a nice service. The weather stayed good though it was quite cold. (The car thermometer said it was 12° at one point!)

Hmm, end of daylight savings today. That kind of makes up for me staying up so late again. Need to start getting to bed earlier.

I bought a Milo bar today for the first time in ages. Very disappointing. So far as I was aware, a Milo bar was, in fact, a bar of compacted Milo with chocolate around it. What I got resembled a bad Chocolate Crackle in bar form - the sort with too much copha and nowhere near enough cocoa. On top of it was something probably intended to be chocolate nougat, but it was hard and chewy and not very nice.
So, if you too have fond memories of Milo bars... don't try to revisit them. Go have a spoonful of Milo from the container. There's probably more Milo in it than in the chocolate bar.

9:26 am - Drats and double-drats
Just when the ants have finally stopped invading our house, they're now swarming the kitchen at work. And my coworkers put down ant-bait - the stuff you're not supposed to put around food! - in the cupboard where all the dishes are. "But it's alright, because there's no food in there!" ...thanks guys. I'm going to be paranoid eating my lunch now. Never mind the stray ants walking on my desk.

The other annoying thing is that - after so many weekends of having nothing to do at all - Minifest is on the same day as my friend's wedding. I can probably go in for an hour or two in the morning, since the wedding isn't until the afternoon, but still. Very unlucky.

10:16 pm - Skies of Arcadia
Finally finished Skies of Arcadia last night - I've been playing it on-and-off since last July, since I bought it at ShinTokyo during AVCon. (It cost $100 - my most expensive game purchase ever! But I really really wanted it.) I might have finished it a lot earlier except that I got really stuck in one area and spent several hours sailing around an area looking for a certain object that should have been far more obvious than it actually was. (Trying to find the guideposts to Rixis, for those who know what I'm talking about.) So I stopped playing it for ages. But anyway. Really enjoyed it; love the characters, animation is pretty good, voice acting was a bit annoying though. Certainly one of my favourite games now! I'm thinking about cosplaying either Vyse or Fina. Probably Vyse. (Looks more comfortable.)

OMG we just had an earthquake!

Well, earth tremor. Quake sounds so much more... flowy? Call it an earthquiver, maybe?

No damage at all (nothing rattled off shelves or anything) but that was cool/weird/mildly scary all at once.

1:06 am - Possum!
So, I'm up late-night gaming again. I heard a clunk-skritch-skritch over at the window and when I went over to investigate, there was a ringtail possum sitting on the windowsill. So cute! It had its paws up against the glass and I think it was quite confused!

1:25 pm - the day is going fast for once.
Sure, it's better for the day to go fast than slowly, but it's confusing me. "Recess? It sure got to recess quickly. ...wait, end of recess already? Where did it go? ...huh, now we're halfway through luch?!" @_@

The weather doesn't seem as bad as it was forecast to be. Hopefully there won't be much trouble with bushfires today. It was quite smokey this morning though - the sunrise was eerie red.

When Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland movie got announced, I was excited. Now, well, I'm not really liking what I'm hearing/seeing of it so far anyway, but mainly I just wish people on the Alice forum I go to would STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT IT IN EVERY POST. I'm sick of hearing how worried they are that it'll replace the book / the Disney movie as "the" popular version of Alice, and how awful it is that he's changing the story (hello? this is Alice? the story that has been changed and rechanged in countless adaptations? it's part of the fun of it, and this is coming from someone who's normally a book purist.) - sure, I don't know that I'll like the changes myself, but I'm waiting until it comes out before I decide that.
